- The Italian soprano will sing her award winning Madama Butterfly in these two Italian cities.
Considered to be one of the most expert performers of Puccini repertoire among opera singers on the current international circuit, Amarilli Nizza will once again take the role of Cio-Cio San, the leading lady of the popular opera Madama Butterfly, in a co-production between Piacenza and Modena Operas, and the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca: she will give performances on the 8th and 10th April at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza and will then travel to the Teatro Comunale in Modena to sing there on the 15th and 17th of the same month.
Nizza made her debut in the role 20 years ago, when she won the Battistini Prize with this role, a character the singer really loves and that has accompanied her throughout her career, always bringing her great satisfaction. Over the last few seasons her version of Cio-Cio San has taken her to great theatres such as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Teatro de La Maestranza in Seville and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, as well as festivals such as the Puccini at Torre del Lago and the Arena de Verona Festival, always to great public and critical acclaim.
In May Nizza will return to the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, this time to take the lead role in Tosca, also by Puccini.
